Walking for 18 holes is often the equivalent of walking 3-to-4 miles. This gets the golfer's heart going and blood pumping. It is a stimulating if not rigorous activity. Golfer who play three or four times a week are getting quite a bit of exercise.

http://stgeorgecitygolf.comstgeorgecitygolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10501518502915897048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3485997302363083044.post-2918496861912423442012-07-14T20:22:45.550+01:002012-07-14T20:22:45.550+01:00This is something that new golf pro's are bein...This is something that new golf pro's are being taught...

http://shadowgolfer.blogspot.com/2012/07/d-plane-for-beginners.html

It's theory old Pro's tend to ignore.Mike Bygrave - Golf Coachinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12145725510914350969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3485997302363083044.post-63623784566509872742012-02-28T06:30:07.422+00:002012-02-28T06:30:07.422+00:00An interesting topic.

Was so frustrated because I've always been a natural athlete and involved with all sorts of sports all my life and excelled and then came golf... it was so hard because I thought I'd pick it up and be pretty good in a pretty short time... not the case. Last year I stopped being so stubborn and took an online golf course and then put it to work on the course and over time it changed my thinking and completely changed my game. Just my 2 cents worth... good article and site, thanksRickhttp://thesimplegolfswingpro.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3485997302363083044.post-49217761756011852152010-05-01T15:32:59.363+01:002010-05-01T15:32:59.363+01:00thank you..

Perhaps having good golf ...An interesting question. Perhaps having good golf equipment from the outset would encourage a sense of complacency; again,if one has cheap/dodgy equipment one would have to work hard to perform even reasonably, which longer term might be a good discipline.

Perhaps a good trajectory for the aspiring golfer would be:

1 Use cheap equipment while learning. Work hard at it.

2 Switch to better equipment later on and when you know you want to pursue the game, when all the effort one has put in will come to fruition and be reflected in superior performance.

I must say that learning to play the guitar was rather like this. Initially I used a cheap Spanish guitar; the string action was not very smooth, so required a lot of effort to master. The skin on my finger tips was sometimes raw. Ultimately, however,my fingers became stronger and I came to play chords easily (and not before time!)

However, when I eventually switched to a Fender Stratocaster, where the string action was sublime and the tone phenomenal, the ease of playing was a real pleasure;the guitar sounded superb without any effort on my part.

An interesting debate!Mikenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3485997302363083044.post-59562253280979416012010-02-19T07:59:06.435+00:002010-02-19T07:59:06.435+00:00Paul,

However, you will hit more shots on 18 holes and it probably works out cheaper than just going to the driving range, open to debate though.

I have heard mixed reports that some folk can produce the magic at the driving range but on an actual course form escapes them. Something to do with one's rhythm, ie out on the course you mix up the clubs and alternate with different shots. Whilst at the driving range you usually focus on a couple of clubs and the body gets used to the given movement. Mixing the shots up on the course can disrupt the momentum.

The 'ping' is a great noise....potential for a 'ping sound track' perhaps..

I definitely give the video profiling a thumbs up, it will add more of an objective measure to your preparation.

Speak soon!captaingolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03549256046147724586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3485997302363083044.post-805830412411284092010-02-08T11:48:18.634+00:002010-02-08T11:48:18.634+00:00Amusing stuff, captain. The thought of taking on a full 18 holes is still too intimadating for me though; I think I'm going to stick to the driving range for the moment.

That said, the satisfying "ping" you mentioned when you send a ball rocketing down the fairway is enought to keep me coming back for more.

Good advice on the video profiling. Sounds like a sensible way to sort out the swing and I think i'll have to invest.

Keep the good tips coming.CWhittallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00444733927547392859noreply@blogger.com
